Our Courses
Our revolutionary courses focus on advancing our students' understanding of STEM, teaching the tools necessary to be impactful, and fostering a lifelong curiosity in the field
Level 1
Our level one courses are for all students who are rising 6th graders or older. These courses focus on teaching the introductory STEM classes of physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics. We prioritize instruction through application and constantly relate topics back to their real world application.
Physics
This physics course emphasizes learning through application and critical thinking, guiding students to master core concepts like motion, forces, and energy by solving real-world challenges
Algebra
This algebra course builds deep understanding through real-world application, empowering students to analyze patterns and solve problems using topics like polynomials, graphing functions, complex numbers, transformations, logarithms, and trigonometric functions.
Chemistry
This chemistry course fosters critical thinking and hands-on application by connecting foundational topics—like chemical reactions, gas laws, and phase changes—to complex real-world systems.
Biology
This biology course emphasizes learning through application and critical thinking, guiding students to explore topics such as enzymes, membranes, and DNA through real-world contexts like disease, genetic mutations, and cell communication.
Level 2
Our level two course are for all students who are rising 7th graders or older. These courses focus on teaching more advanced and complicated STEM courses such as engineering, coding, and applied sciences. We rely a project-based learning approach along with instruction to give students a hands on learning experience. Throughout the entirety of the course, students will be working on an individual passion project of their choice to build a deep understanding and curiosity of the topic.
Engineering
This engineering course emphasizes applied problem-solving and critical thinking through hands-on learning in areas like the engineering design process, 3D modeling, circuitry, and FEA, while also challenging students to complete a self-directed, course-long project of their choice
Applied Science
The applied sciences course emphasizes deep scientific understanding through emphasis on real world application of scientific topics ranging from chemistry, to physics, to biology and more, while also completing their own independent mini research project to investigate a phenomena of their choosing.
Coding
The coding course focuses on critical thinking and advanced learning through project based learning of basic and intermediate coding topics, while also engaging students to complete an individual, course related passion project of their choice
Level 3
Our level three course is for all students who are rising 8th graders or older. This is a challenging course focused on research and having an impact on the world. Students will brainstorm and choose a research project they would like to work on and will be placed into small groups with students conducting similar projects. Each group will have a mentor with expertise in the field who will guide them through their project.
Research
The research course does away with traditional teaching, instead focusing on entirely student led learning with mentors to guide them. Students are given the freedom to choose and work on a research or passion project of their choosing under the supervision and aid of Horizon mentors.
